A solar-powered Smart Irrigation System for rice farms with real-time soil data and weather analytics.

Motivation of the Project

Facing the reality that water mismanagement accounts for nearly 50% of the Philippines' supply loss, our team set out to bridge the efficiency gap in local agriculture. At the packetHACKS x HacktheClimate IOTCon 2025, we developed a solar-powered Smart Irrigation System that integrates real-time soil telemetry with predictive weather analytics. Despite being first-time hackathon participants (and first-time mobile app developers) we successfully engineered a system that (1) automates soil moisture management by syncing real-time data with weather forecasts to optimize water usage and (2) empowers farmers with remote control, providing essential farm status and weather updates through a unified and intuitive mobile interface. Participating in our first hackathon was a surreal experience; there were many lessons that were picked up and even more memories that were created.
